This role involves Class A surface modeling for interior and exterior automotive components, focusing on design, manufacturing, and cost requirements. Responsibilities include leading the surface development process, resolving issues, iterating on proposals, and ensuring data quality and craftsmanship targets are met using CAD tools like Icem Surf, Catia ISD, Alias, and TCE.

What you'd actually do

  1. Lead production studio surface development & refinement to address component, manufacturing, craftsmanship, TVM development, highlights & design styling requirements.
  2. Resolve class A issues & implement solutions per the electronic surface change request (eSCR) system.
  3. Iterate eSCR surface proposals working with engineering and design to maintain design intent.
  4. Support exterior and interior surface/eSCR bi-weekly reviews as needed.
  5. Support the AAF process to communicate eSCR status as needed.

Skills

Required

  • 5+ years of interior/exterior focused surface development, design studio, or related experience.
  • Proficiency in CAD Tools (Icem Surf, Catia ISD, Alias, TCE).

Nice to have

  • Ability to interpret feasibility sections to guide studio surface development.
  • Understanding of the surface development process & the eSCR/SDMS system.
  • Good interpersonal skills and leadership behaviors.
  • Understanding of quality surfaces (highlights, data integrity, stitching and patch structure).
  • Understanding of the studio surface process & deliverables (TCE/data management system, master packages and reference managers).
  • Excellent communication & organizational skills.
  • Understanding & knowledge of studio surface deliverables and process.
