Google Cloud Platform team seeks a Data Engineer in Buenos Aires to help customers transform their business using cloud technology. The role involves engaging stakeholders, designing and migrating data infrastructure, implementing data quality procedures, and managing project timelines. Requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience, proficiency in client-side web technologies, coding in languages like Python, and bilingual fluency in English and Spanish.

What you'd actually do

  1. Engage stakeholders to translate customer requirements into recommendations for appropriate solution architectures and advisory services, partnering with technical leads to drive high-velocity migration and modernisation to Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  2. Design, Migrate and Operationalise data storage and processing infrastructure using Cloud native products.
  3. Architect and implement data migration strategies across various database types, including PostgreSQL, Oracle and Alloy DB.
  4. Develop and implement data quality and governance procedures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of data.
  5. Establish communication strategies, risk and issue management, status reports, project matrix, and track timelines.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience working with client-side web technologies (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript, or HTTP)
  • Experience coding with one or more programming languages (e.g., Java, C/C++, Python)
  • Experience troubleshooting technical issues for internal/external partners or customers
  • Ability to communicate in English and Spanish fluently to engage with clients in the region

Nice to have

  • Experience in working with data warehouses, including data warehouse technical architectures, infrastructure components, ETL/ELT and reporting/analytic tools, environments, and data structures
  • Experience in Big Data, information retrieval, data mining, or Machine Learning
  • Experience in building multi-tier, high availability applications with modern technologies such as NoSQL, MongoDB and SparkML
  • Experience architecting, developing software, or internet scale production-grade Big Data solutions in virtualized environments
  • Experience with IaC and CICD tools like Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins etc
