Cloud Success Architect, Gdc Air-gapped

This role is for a Cloud Success Architect focused on Google Distributed Cloud (GDC) air-gapped solutions for public sector clients in the UK. The primary responsibilities include serving as a technical advisor, managing customer relationships, planning training, handling feature requests, and leading technical escalations in highly regulated, air-gapped environments. The role requires experience in customer-facing technical implementations and cloud operations, with a strong emphasis on security clearances.

What you'd actually do

  1. Serve as a trusted technical advisor for air-gapped cloud platforms, providing specialized expertise and ad hoc architectural Q&A support.
  2. Own the end-to-end post-sales relationship for Platform Administrator teams, which includes supporting Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) and assisting customers with spend optimization.
  3. Plan and coordinate training for customer staff, developing learning roadmaps and leading hackathons to foster skill development.
  4. Act as the primary interface for customer feature requests and coordinate release planning to align needs with the product roadmap.
  5. Lead the resolution of complex technical escalations and collaborate with delivery teams to strategically plan and adopt new customer workloads.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in a customer-facing role driving technical implementations, cloud operations (e.g., launch planning, release management), or escalation management.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time, including onsite commitments with customers.
  • Must possess an active Security Check (SC) UK security clearance, and the ability to obtain Developed Vetting (DV) UK security clearance.

Nice to have

  • Experience in application/workload migration to public cloud providers, specifically within the Public Sector or highly regulated industries.
  • Experience with air-gapped or sovereign cloud solutions and the associated operational challenges.
  • Experience in service management (e.g. ITIL), with a focus on managing technical escalations and ensuring customer support health.
  • Understanding of one or more technical domains: IT security, networking, database systems, AI, or cloud-native architecture (e.g., Kubernetes/GKE).
  • Ability to communicate effectively with C-suite executives and technical stakeholders to develop strategic roadmaps.
