This role is a Technical Account Manager (TAM) for AWS Global Services, focusing on helping customers design, build, operate, and secure their cloud environments. The TAM acts as a principal technical advisor, providing consultative architectural and operational guidance, strategic technical guidance, and advocacy to customers ranging from startups to Fortune 500 enterprises. The role involves understanding customer needs, helping them achieve value from AWS services, and ensuring their environments are operationally healthy and resilient. While Generative AI is mentioned as an area of expertise within AWS, the core responsibilities of the TAM are broad cloud consulting and customer advisory, not direct AI/ML model development or deployment.

What you'd actually do

  1. Provide consultative architectural and operational guidance delivered in the context of customer’s applications and use-cases to help them achieve the greatest value from AWS.
  2. Consult on architecture, governance, security, and operations and other pillars of building on AWS.
  3. Provide advocacy and strategic technical guidance to help plan and build solutions using best practices, and proactively keep your customers’ AWS environments operationally healthy and resilient.
  4. Understand their business/operational needs and technical challenges, and help them achieve the greatest value from AWS.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics or equivalent, or 4+ years of technical work experience
  • 2+ years of technical engineering experience
  • Experience in Information Technology operations
  • US Citizen

Nice to have

  • Experience in internal enterprise or external customer-facing environment as a technical lead
  • Experience with development in a distributed systems environment
  • Experience in a 24x7 operational services or support environment
  • Experience with AWS services or other cloud offerings
  • Understanding of the AWS Well-Architected Framework pillars and ability to properly apply them to existing or new customer architecture, implementations, and/or solutions
  • Professional oral and written communication skills, presenting to an audience containing one or more executive team member(s)
  • Strong foundation in data modeling, database design, and architecting data solutions that support scalable, well-structured systems
  • Experience applying technical or operational expertise to identify, balance trade-offs, and solve difficult challenges
