Seeking an Electrical Engineering Co-Op to join the Hardware & Controls Engineering team, contributing to electrical systems for automated scientific equipment. Responsibilities include electrical design, prototyping, documentation, testing, and integration, working in a collaborative R&D environment to build practical engineering skills.

What you'd actually do

  1. Create and update wiring schematics, electrical drawings, and engineering documentation.
  2. Support electrical design work for automated scientific instruments and prototype systems.
  3. Build, test, calibrate, and troubleshoot electrical systems under engineering supervision.
  4. Assist with process instrumentation, sensors, and field-level control devices.
  5. Document test plans, results, and design changes with attention to accuracy and traceability.

Skills

Required

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field.
  • Foundational knowledge of electrical circuit theory, logic, and design principles.
  • Exposure to CAD or electrical design tools through coursework, projects, or internships.
  • Basic familiarity with electrical components, control systems, and test equipment.
  • Interest in learning industrial electrical standards, PLCs, HMIs, and automation systems.
  • Strong attention to detail, curiosity, and openness to feedback.
  • Clear communication and collaboration skills in a team environment.

Nice to have

  • Academic, lab, internship, or project experience in R&D, life sciences, or automation.
  • Exposure to SCADA systems, industrial controls, or laboratory automation concepts.
  • Familiarity with P&ID diagrams, control narratives, or electrical documentation standards.
  • Basic understanding of industrial networking, IoT, or Industry 4.0 concepts.
  • Prior internship or co-op experience in electrical engineering or a related field.
