Commissioning Engineer for autonomous surface vessels, focusing on marine systems (propulsion, electrical, mechanical). Ensures systems are commissioned, tested, and operational. Requires strong problem-solving, independent troubleshooting, and adherence to maritime regulations.

What you'd actually do

  1. Support all marine engineering operations across vessels while in production and initial testing prior to delivery
  2. Troubleshoot diesel engines, water jets, and auxiliary systems
  3. Provide direct guidance and technical oversight to Chief Engineers and vessel crews
  4. Oversee commissioning, testing, and acceptance of vessel systems at shipyard
  5. Ensure all necessary maintenance is completed on vessel machinery

Skills

Required

  • Senior-level marine engineering experience
  • Experience with Caterpillar, Cummins, Wärtsilä, Mitsubishi or similar
  • Waterjet propulsion experience
  • Independent troubleshooting ability
  • Experience with newbuild commissioning, vessel operations and maintenance
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Pass background check and USCG/DOT drug testing prior to onboarding
  • Security clearance and eligibility required

Nice to have

  • Familiar with jet-drive propulsion systems
  • Experience with autonomous or unmanned systems
  • Prior experience working with the DoD or other government agencies
