Commissioning Manager

This role is for a Commissioning Manager responsible for the end-to-end delivery of new data center capacity for Microsoft's Cloud Operations + Innovation (CO+I) team. The manager will oversee program management and construction processes, manage workflow across project managers and virtual teams, and ensure data center construction programs are delivered on scope, schedule, and budget. The role involves site inspections, vendor management, and reporting on project progress, QA/QC, and commissioning metrics. It requires a strong background in technical engineering and experience in managing large-scale construction projects.

What you'd actually do

  1. Primary responsibility for Charlotte, NC region commissioning projects with secondary responsibility for other CO+I commissioning projects for Americas.
  2. Manage the contracted Commissioning Agent assigned to Data Center construction projects in the Charlotte, NC region.
  3. Construction site inspections to review QA/QC and commissioning process.
  4. Manage the Commissioning process for Charlotte, NC region Projects.
  5. Provide Vendor oversight and performance management (Scorecard driven).

Skills

Required

  • Doctorate Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Reliability Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience OR Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Reliability Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience OR Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Reliability Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field AND 5+ years technical engineering experience OR 12+ years relevant technical engineering experience.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements
