Compliance - Operational Risk Management Lead - Vice President

This role provides independent operational risk oversight for data products, datasets, data pipelines, and data architecture within JPMorgan Chase's Risk Management and Compliance team. The Lead will ensure alignment with regulatory requirements and firmwide data risk policies, assessing governance and management of data assets. Responsibilities include overseeing the data development lifecycle, assessing risks in architecture and environments, evaluating DevOps processes, reviewing data asset inventory, assessing standards and controls, reviewing technical implementation of data products, monitoring risks, developing KRIs/KPIs, and supporting regulatory exams.

What you'd actually do

  1. Provide independent oversight of the end-to-end data development lifecycle, ensuring all phases—from planning and design to deployment and monitoring—adhere to firmwide risk management standards and regulatory obligations.
  2. Assess and identify risk in the design and implementation of data development architecture & environment to ensure secure, scalable, and compliant data solutions.
  3. Perform independent risk oversight of firmwide DevOps processes, tools and methodologies for data development and deployment.
  4. Evaluate the delivery and deployment of the firm’s data asset inventory including meta-model, and associated attributes ensuring these foundational elements are comprehensive, accurate, and support data regulatory and operational risk requirements.
  5. Assess the design adequacy of data development standards & controls to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Information Technology, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 7 plus years of experience in data architecture design, data product development, data engineering, or data risk management.
  • Strong knowledge of data risk management frameworks (e.g. Data Management Body of Knowledge, CMMI Data Management Maturity, EDM Data Capability Assessment Model) and regulatory requirements (including BCBS 239, GDPR, GLBA 501(b), Global Data Retention and Record Keeping Requirements, PCI DSS etc.).
  • Demonstrated experience with development and deployment of data lineage, data discovery and classification, data cataloging, data quality, data transformation and data governance tools e.g. (Collibra, Alation, Informatica, Wiz, BigID etc.).
  • Experience with big data platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake, Hadoop, and Apache Spark and cloud-based data solutions and platforms, including AWS (e.g., Redshift, Glue, S3), Azure (e.g., Synapse, Data Lake), and Google Cloud Platform (e.g., BigQuery, Dataflow).
  • Knowledge of DevOps practices for data engineering and analytics environments.
  • Proven ability to assess and challenge technical controls, standards, and architectures for compliance and effectiveness.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and multi-tasking skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver results.
  • Strong leadership and influencing skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical and risk concepts to senior audiences.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present findings and recommendations persuasively.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and driving risk management initiatives across large organizations.
