Component Inspector(union)

Performs dimensional and non-destructive inspections on components using precision measuring instruments and CMMs to ensure compliance with drawing requirements and specifications. Conducts routine and first piece inspections, operates CMMs, and prepares quality records. Requires knowledge of GD&T, MIL-specs, and inspection techniques.

What you'd actually do

  1. Perform dimensional inspections on first piece, production and received components to drawing requirements utilizing all types of precision measuring instruments including but not limited to Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) and non-destructive testing methods.
  2. Perform routine inspections using certified variable and attribute inspection gages –
  3. Perform first piece and in process inspections on precision components utilizing surface plate setups, CMM's.
  4. Operate CMM's to inspect components or program CMM's in DCC mode.
  5. Conduct sample inspections on precision components that are received from outside vendors or manufactured in house.

Skills

Required

  • High school Diploma/GED
  • Proficient in use of standard measuring instruments such as micrometers, vernier calipers, dial indicators, and gage blocks.
  • Knowledgeable in ANSI/ASME Y14.5
  • Knowledge of mechanical gage inspection techniques, drawing and specification interpretations, appropriate MIL-specs and regulatory requirements, computer and software applications, geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing, and statistical sampling techniques.

Nice to have

  • 2 years minimum experience within the inspection field
