Composite Bonder Technician at Northrop Grumman responsible for reading blueprints, preparing and applying bonding agents, operating bonding equipment, and performing repairs on composite, metal, or laminate bonded products. Requires a Secret clearance and experience in structures/composites within an aerospace or related environment.

What you'd actually do

  1. Read and understand blueprints
  2. Lay out articles, cuts parts or materials to size and apply liquid or solid bonding agents
  3. Understanding of ply orientations and vacuum bagging processes
  4. Operates autoclave, hydraulic presses and ovens to complete bonding cycle
  5. Control conditions of heat, pressure, and timing by setting and operating various controls according to the specifications for the materials and the bonding agent being used
  6. Sand, burs and smooth over areas, apply sealing resins to cut or exposed edges
  7. Complete repairs on composite, metal or laminate bonded products using inspection and rework instructions
  8. Monitor and verify quality of finished product

Skills

Required

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 9 months structures/composites experience in an aerospace, automotive, military, manufacturing and/or maintenance environment OR completion of approved Aircraft Fabrication or Composites course
  • Ability to perform moderate strenuous physical and repetitious work
  • Ability to work flexible, changing shifts, including weekends
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret level clearance
  • U.S. Citizenship

Nice to have

  • Current/active U.S. Government Secret level clearance
  • Experience in aerospace manufacturing
  • Demonstrated ability using standard measuring equipment and power hand tools
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, assembly drawings, process specifications, technical manuals, written instructions, test procedures, blueprints, etc.
