Composite Bonder Technician 2 role at Northrop Grumman, Clearfield, UT. What you'd actually do

  1. Read and interpret blueprints.
  2. Lay out articles, cuts parts or materials to size and apply liquid or solid bonding agents.
  3. Understanding of ply orientations and vacuum bagging processes
  4. Operates autoclave, hydraulic presses and ovens to complete bonding cycle.
  5. Control conditions of heat, pressure, and timing according to the specifications for the materials and the bonding agent being used.
  6. Sand, burs and smooth over areas, apply sealing resins to cut or exposed edges.
  7. Monitor and verify quality of finished product.
  8. Complete repairs on composite, metal or laminate bonded products using inspection and rework instructions. Verifies quality of finished product.

Skills

Required

  • 2+ years of relatable composite fabrication or bonding experience in manufacturing/production environment
  • DoD Secret Security Clearance
  • Ability to perform moderate strenuous physical and repetitious work
  • Ability to work flexible, changing shifts, including weekends
  • Ability to access small, confined spaces and work in an enclosed environment

Nice to have

  • Completion of AFAB Certification
  • Experience with hydraulic parts, aircraft fabrication, assemblies, components, and systems in an aerospace, automotive, military, manufacturing and/or maintenance environment
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance with a background investigation completed within the last six years
  • Experience with structural subassemblies such as rudders, flaps and stabilizers.
