Configuration Lead, Technical Merchandising

Netflix is seeking a Configuration Lead for their Technical Merchandising team. This role will focus on executing and implementing merchandising configurations and capabilities across the Netflix service, translating merchandising strategies into technical implementations, and ensuring capabilities effectively connect members to entertainment. The role requires expertise in product and merchandising techniques, partnership with various teams, and technical depth to bridge content strategy and platform implementation. Responsibilities include leading technical configurations, supporting implementation, managing processes, and collaborating cross-functionally. Qualifications include extensive experience in merchandising, understanding of technical systems, strong problem-solving, and excellent communication skills. Experience with recommendation systems is a plus.

What you'd actually do

  1. Execute the vision and requirements for merchandising configurations and capabilities - working with Member Experience and Content Platform Product Management teams to integrate merchandising program requirements into overall core roadmaps
  2. Partner on the development of new merchandising capabilities and work with the Performance manager to integrate experimentation frameworks and performance evaluation
  3. Ensure the broader team adopts new capabilities and deeply understands requirements for effective utilization
  4. Implement and maintain merchandising guidelines and principles for when/how merchandising modules are used
  5. In partnership with other technical merchandising experts, evaluate business needs and contribute to roadmap prioritization

Skills

Required

  • 8+ years of experience in merchandising functions
  • Experience in developing scaled merchandising modules/configurations for products
  • Ability to grasp technical concepts quickly
  • Experience in developing self-service tooling
  • Strong technical problem-solving abilities
  • Experience with merchandising systems and tool integrations
  • Ability to translate business merchandising strategies into technically driven solutions
  • Knowledge of digital product development processes and content management systems
  • Strategic, analytical thinker with a strong customer-focused mindset
  • Excellent written (memos and presentations) and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders and effectively influence and contribute with concrete recommendations/next steps, across both regional and global teams
  • Experience working effectively with technical and non-technical teams
  • Skilled at explaining complex technical concepts in accessible ways
  • Highly motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently and drive alignment amid ambiguity
  • Comfortable applying a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods to define success
