Configuration Manager (government)

AT&T AT&T · Telecom · San Antonio, TX

Configuration Manager for AT&T's Global Public Sector, supporting DISA in a Department of War environment. Responsibilities include developing and implementing configuration identification plans, administering the CMDB, enforcing CM processes, tracking licenses and lifecycles, conducting audits, and maintaining CM documentation. Requires experience with NIST 800-53 CM controls and DoD change control processes.

What you'd actually do

  1. Support the Program Manager in execution of contractual compliance.
  2. Develop and implement a Configuration Identification Plan to baseline all network configuration items (CI) including types, versions, owners. Establish the initial configuration baseline for hardware, software, and cloud configurations.
  3. Administer the network Configuration Management Database (CMDB), ensuring all CIs and their relationships are accurately captured. Update the CMDB weekly with changes (new deployments, updates, decommissions).
  4. Enforce configuration management processes in concert with the engineering team. Participate in configuration change boards (CCBs) to analyze the impact of changes, track Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), and document all modifications.
  5. Track software licenses, certificate expirations, and component lifecycles to ensure timely renewals or replacements. Monitor End-of-Life (EOL)/End-of-Service (EOS) statuses for hardware and software, coordinating upgrades or replacements proactively.
