This role manages and supports a portfolio of industrial construction projects in North America, focusing on cost certainty, financial health reporting, and executing cost management frameworks. It involves independent management of day-to-day cost functions with guidance from a manager on strategic direction. The role requires tracking and reporting cost performance, managing budgets and controls, handling change management, and collaborating with external partners and stakeholders. A key aspect is exploring and implementing generative AI and automation tools for cost estimating and analysis, alongside proficiency in cost management platforms and advanced Excel.

What you'd actually do

  1. Execute end-to-end cost management functions aligned, including cost planning, cost control, cost forecasting, and cost reporting across multiple assigned projects.
  2. Track and report cost performance metrics
  3. Strong fundamental understanding of end-to-end change control process management (receipt, evaluation, negotiation, disposition) with the ability to drive a standardized process leveraging AACE standards.
  4. Develop strong partnerships with Construction Managers, Preconstruction Managers, Design, Procurement, Finance, and Operations teams.
  5. Contribute to daily, weekly, and monthly cost reports with a bias toward automation.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field
  • Experience as an Architect, Engineer, Construction Manager, Development Manager, Owner's project management representative or in other Commercial Development and Construction related disciplines
  • 5+ years of construction cost management, cost engineering, estimating, or quantity surveying experience
  • Proficiency with cost management software, scheduling tools (Primavera P6, MS Project, or similar), and advanced Excel
  • Experience using data analytics to identify trends, drive and support process improvements, and inform strategic decisions through metrics and KPIs.

Nice to have

  • Master's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Business, or related field
