Consulting Chief Engineers responsible for the technical baseline of platforms, providing technical leadership and direction to engineering teams for sustainment, improvement, and development of new capabilities for aircraft systems. Requires extensive experience in systems engineering, integration, and risk management, with a strong technical judgment and leadership capability.

What you'd actually do

  1. The CE is responsible for the overall execution and technical performance of the portfolio comprised of members from each technical IPT (Systems Engineering, Air Vehicle, Mission Systems, Software, and Test).
  2. Oversee all major technical reviews (SRR, SFR, PDR, CDR, TRR, FRR, etc.), thus ensuring execution efforts are delivering quality products on time and within budget.
  3. Serves as the principal technical interface with the customer.
  4. Demonstrate experience and understanding of software development, avionics integration, systems engineering (including requirements analysis, modeling and simulation, and verification at subsystem and system level), integration and test in both laboratory and flight test environments.
  5. Ensures Key Performance Parameters, Technical Performance Measures (First Time Quality included) are being tracked, adhered to, and are satisfying customer and program requirements.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM AND 16 years of experience on manned or unmanned aircraft systems, OR Master’s degree in STEM AND 14 years of experience, OR Ph.D. in STEM AND 11 years of experience
  • Subject Matter Expert in two or more Core Technical Competency areas: Technical judgement and risk management, Demonstrated technical leadership, Systems engineering and systems thinking skills, Leading system architecture and design trades, Deep expertise in one relevant technical discipline, Experience leading cross functional technical integration
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of aircraft systems including air vehicle, mission computing, communications, and sensors.
  • Familiarity with leading large engineering teams
  • Experience with software development, avionics integration, systems engineering, integration and test
  • Experience driving cross-functional technical integration
