This role is for a Contract Manager within Amazon Web Services (AWS) Legal Department, focusing on supporting AWS data center infrastructure. The responsibilities include reviewing, drafting, and negotiating contracts related to data center design, construction, operation, maintenance, and security. The role also involves providing legal and commercial advice, partnering with various internal teams, and driving process improvements for contract management. A key aspect is championing the adoption of AI tools and legal technology to enhance the contracting function.

What you'd actually do

  1. Reviewing, drafting, and negotiating a high volume of Amazon contracts across a diverse and expanding scope of data center activities, including general contractor and engineering/design vendor main services agreements, operations, maintenance and security services contracts, work orders, change orders, and ancillary agreements.
  2. Providing day-to-day legal and commercial advice to business clients on projects, negotiations, vendor management, and internal and external communications.
  3. Partnering proactively with procurement, finance, engineering, construction, Operations, and security stakeholders to anticipate needs, assess and manage risk, and deliver timely, actionable guidance and support.
  4. Driving legal and business-facing process improvements that enable scalable, efficient contract management at high volumes, and developing and implementing simplification measures to eliminate repetitive or low risk work.
  5. Driving reductions in contract cycle times through workflow automation, standardization, and cross-functional process alignment, and championing the adoption of AI tools and legal technology to elevate the quality, speed, and scalability of the contracting function.

Skills

Required

  • Experience working with customers with a passion for delivering exceptional service, or experience that includes strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities
  • Experience working in a fast paced, quickly changing or international environment
  • Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of experience in contract drafting, review and negotiation in a corporate legal, law firm, or in-house environment.
  • Experience managing a high volume of contracts simultaneously across diverse categories and counterparties.
  • A passion for building trust with internal and external stakeholders by being proactive and innovative in solving problems that affect stakeholders and customers.
  • A proven ability to meet tight deadlines and prioritize competing workloads and maintain quality under pressure.

Nice to have

  • Experience with construction, design, facilities management, operations, maintenance, or physical security contracts.
  • Prior in-house experience supporting global teams at a technology company or large-scale infrastructure organization.
  • Experience managing outside counsel engagements, including budget oversight and performance evaluation.
  • Proficiency in contract lifecycle management (CLM) platforms or legal operations technology.
  • Experience using and evaluating AI-powered legal tools for contract review, analysis, or management.
