Control Systems Senior Engineer

Caterpillar Caterpillar · Industrial · Mossville, IL +2

This role focuses on designing and implementing control systems for heavy machinery, integrating electrical and mechanical systems, and analyzing field data to improve performance. It involves translating requirements into specifications and ensuring product quality through testing. While it mentions "autonomy and automation," the core responsibilities are in traditional control systems engineering rather than AI/ML model development.

What you'd actually do

  1. Design advanced electrical control systems and integrating electrical and mechanical systems.
  2. Design and implement control logic and procedures to control and enhance electro-mechanical systems and mechatronic devices performance in collaboration with machine product teams.
  3. Assess the feasibility of product and subsystem requirements and refine them into a clear, unambiguous, and verifiable set.
  4. Translate the refined requirements into detailed specifications that guide the design, development, and implementation of the system.
  5. Work with the verification team to ensure proper test plans are in place.
