Cost Value Engineer, Intelligence Systems & Space (active Clearance)

Anduril Anduril · Defense · Costa Mesa, CA · Hardware Operations : Supply Chain : Product Sourcing Engineering

This role is for a Cost Value Engineer at Anduril Industries, a defense technology company. The primary focus is on strategic supply network development and cost management for product hardware across its lifecycle. Responsibilities include collaborating with suppliers and internal engineering, quality, and manufacturing teams to ensure parts are sourced and procured at target costs, managing the total Bill of Material (BOM), driving on-time delivery, conducting value-stream mapping, and managing cost engineering activities. The role requires an engineering or technical degree, 5+ years of experience in sourcing engineering or supplier development, domain expertise in value/procurement engineering, and an active U.S. Secret or TS clearance.

What you'd actually do

  1. Deep dive into your engineering Bill of Material (BOM), working closely with engineering to ensure parts being designed can be sourced & procured at a reasonable target level
  2. Conduct supplier selection for a specific product, leveraging our approved supplier list as well as working to onboard unique vendors to support the needs of the Space & Intelligence business team
  3. Drive on time delivery utilizing unique solutions to break the mold of traditional Space industry lead-times and supply constraints
  4. Partner with strategic suppliers to accelerate product development via activities such as:
  5. Drive the development and consolidation of a manufacturing BOM, working with Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing, to ramp production internally and with our suppliers with high flexibility
  6. Manage total cost of the program, including NPI & mass production throughout NPI
  7. Conduct value-stream mapping to optimize supply network lead time and flexibility
  8. Complete the BOM risk assessment, include alternate component sourcing, etc.
  9. Ensure completion of all component qualifications, ahead of production
  10. Reduce complexity: commonality optimization & component/supplier rationalization
  11. Lead all cost engineering activities to converge the bottoms-up cost curve to product cost, maximizing the total cost of ownership (TCO) across the product lifecycle
  12. Manage ad-hoc cost issues e.g., tariffs / import export cost, and cost inflation
  13. Managing supply issues as they arise, ensuring on time delivery at or below target cost
