Cpu Design Engineer - New College Grad 2026

NVIDIA NVIDIA · Semiconductors · Hillsboro, OR +5 · Remote

NVIDIA is seeking CPU Design Engineers to design world-leading CPUs for product lines including consumer graphics, self-driving cars, and artificial intelligence. The role involves micro-architecture, design, and implementation of high-performance, low-power CPUs, working closely with cross-functional teams. Responsibilities include RTL implementation, logic design optimization, and supporting hardware engineering activities.

What you'd actually do

  1. Drive the micro-architecture definition, feasibility studies and documentation of CPU sub-systems.
  2. Implement in RTL and coordinate execution with the verification team to ensure that the design is functional.
  3. Exercise logic design skills to optimize and meet performance, timing and power targets.
  4. Deliver a synthesis/timing clean design while working with the physical design team ensuring a routable and physically implementable design.
  5. Support hardware engineering activities including chip floor plan, power/clock distribution, chip assembly, timing closure, power and noise analysis, and back-end verification.

Skills

Required

  • BS or MS in electrical engineering or computer engineering (or equivalent experience).
  • Exposure to Computer Architecture and Digital Systems design.
  • Proficient in logic design, Verilog and/or SystemVerilog, with a deep understanding of physical design and VLSI.
