This role is for a CPU Physical Design Engineer at Intel, focusing on the design and delivery of high-performance CPU blocks from RTL to GDS. Responsibilities include executing the full physical design flow, leading verification and sign-off, and optimizing designs for power, performance, and area using industry-standard EDA tools. The role requires a BSc or MSc degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering and at least 7 years of experience in physical design.

What you'd actually do

  1. Design and deliver high‑performance CPU blocks from RTL to GDS, ready for manufacturing.
  2. Execute full physical design flow—including synthesis, floorplanning , place and route, CTS, timing closure, power/clock distribution, and reliability, power, and noise analysis.
  3. Lead verification and sign‑off (STA, equivalence, power integrity, LVS/DRC/ERC, and structural checks) to final convergence.
  4. Optimize designs for power, performance, and area using industry‑standard EDA tools (Cadence, Synopsys, Mentor, Ansys).
  5. Contribute to methodology and automation improvements.

Skills

Required

  • BSc or MSc degree in Electrical, or Computer Engineering or equivalent
  • At least 7 years of experience in physical design using industry EDA tools
  • Experience using Cadence/Synopsys implementation tools
