Boeing is hiring a Crane Operator Hooktender to safely and efficiently move large aircraft and missile components using cab-controlled and mobile boom-type cranes. Responsibilities include guiding crane operations, selecting and securing lifting equipment, inspecting and maintaining cranes, calculating load requirements, and coordinating safety processes. The role requires experience operating overhead cranes, precise visual judgment, and color recognition.

What you'd actually do

  1. Operate cab-controlled overhead traveling cranes or mobile boom-type cranes to lift, move, lower, and position large aircraft, missile, and marine craft parts and assemblies.
  2. Guide crane operations using visible or audible signals to ensure precise movements.
  3. Select, secure, and adjust suitable chains, cables, slings, and hooks to properly load and balance various large assemblies and equipment.
  4. Inspect the condition of the crane and all equipment to be used for work assignments before and after operation, reporting any required maintenance.
  5. Calculate safe load requirements prior to lifting to avoid exceeding lift capacity and ensure safe operations.

Skills

Required

  • 1+ years of experience operating overhead cranes in a safe manner, such as boom cranes overhead or cab controlled.
  • 1+ years of experience operating powered material handling equipment such as overhead cranes
  • Experience operating cranes or similar equipment where precise visual judgment of distances was required to safely position heavy objects.
  • Ability to recognize colors.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English.

Nice to have

  • 1+ years of experience working from heights & using fall protection equipment with weight limitations.
