Credit Underwriter I – Real Estate Corporate Banking

This role is for a Credit Underwriter in Real Estate Corporate Banking at Bank of America. The primary responsibilities include analyzing financial statements, capital structures, and real estate assets to underwrite loans and monitor portfolios. The role requires experience in credit analysis, underwriting, and loan structuring within a financial institution, with a focus on commercial real estate clients. It is not directly AI/ML related.

What you'd actually do

  1. Analyzing financial statements (primarily public company), capital structures, commercial real estate assets / portfolios and deal structures to produce documents in support of company specific and portfolio level decisions on a timely basis
  2. Proficient use of internal tools and systems in support of new deals, portfolio monitoring, performance reporting and data integrity requirements
  3. Solid understanding of capital and client profitability concepts, including modeling credit and relationship returns in support of risk / return considerations
  4. Comprehension of fundamental legal and underwriting concepts as they relate to deal structures

Skills

Required

  • 3+ years of professional experience preferably within a bank or financial institution, with hands-on exposure to credit analysis, underwriting, loan structuring, or portfolio management
  • Experience supporting Commercial Real Estate or related lending products
  • Familiarity with core banking products
  • Solid experience in financial analysis, structuring, underwriting and/or portfolio management
  • Strong communication and analytical/technical skills, including financial accounting, modeling and loan structuring.
  • Demonstrates commitment, personal responsibility, strong communication skills, ability to manage multiple tasks at a time, teamwork, and a strong desire to grow and develop

Nice to have

  • Undergraduate degree in finance, accounting, economics, real estate or similar field.
  • Knowledge of the other BofA products including Investment Banking, Interest Rate Hedging, and Treasury Management that have credit exposure
  • Leverages product expertise to deliver the best possible and optimally integrated strategic solution for the client or prospect.
