This role is for a Critical Environment Electrical Engineer responsible for managing and maintaining electrical infrastructure in Microsoft's datacenters. The engineer will act as a technical expert, oversee operations, work with commissioning teams, and ensure safety and compliance. The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with 2+ years of experience or equivalent.

What you'd actually do

  1. Act as the technical expert for on-site operations related to a large-scale mission critical electrical system, design, and functionality
  2. Manage the electrical infrastructures throughout datacenter campus ranging from a single large capacity facility, to several smaller ones
  3. Work with commissioning teams to properly test and validate installation, operation, and performance of electrical systems
  4. Understand the design and functionality of your datacenter
  5. Establish and coordinate maintenance and safety procedures, maintaining highly redundant electrical designs

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • 2+ years technical engineering experience
  • Equivalent experience in critical, industrial, utility, etc. environments

Nice to have

  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT/FE) certification or Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Demonstrated knowledge of construction techniques and terminology
  • Demonstrated experience designing, operating, and commissioning electrical distribution systems
  • Demonstrated experience with power system analysis
  • Knowledge of mechanical and control systems related to datacenter environments
