This role is responsible for overseeing and assuring compliance with Microsoft's Energy Isolation Program in critical environments, specifically within data centers. The Marshall will implement safety policies, establish Lockout Tag Out (LOTO) procedures, liaise with construction and engineering teams, and generate reports on program status. The role requires a degree in Electrical Engineering or related field with relevant experience, and the ability to meet security screening requirements.

What you'd actually do

  1. Oversees and assures the overall compliance of Microsoft’s Energy Isolation Program and establish acceptance criteria for authorizing campus Energy Isolation Plan.
  2. Implements learnings, provides consistency, and drives rigor into Microsoft’s Energy Isolation program and ensures program meets or exceeds company safety policy requirements.
  3. Utilise local code and standards as the foundation for Microsoft’s Energy Isolation program that is implemented throughout the campus.
  4. Establish with the Engineering team a centralized Lockout Tag Out (LOTO) procedure with all campus entities and determine if a group or individual LOTO procedure will be required.
  5. Commencement of energy isolation activities with updates on a continuous basis.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience OR Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 1+ year(s) technical engineering experience OR equivalent experience
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements

Nice to have

  • Experience in critical environment and industry standards and practices
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex technical solutions and concepts to engineers and non-engineers
  • Ability to interpret line drawings and system redundancies to ensure design of LOTO systems is 100% effective and in compliance with Microsoft standards
  • Experience in the Control of Hazardous Energy in complex mission critical infrastructure
  • Experience with the operation and maintenance of building MEP systems. (Power distribution, lighting, grounding, fire alarm, security, life safety, controls systems and sprinkler systems)
  • Understanding of electrical theory and practical application via your maintenance & operation of critical electrical equipment. (Paralleling switchgear, redundant UPS systems, DC battery strings, multi-source electrical utility switchgear, standby diesel generators, etc.)
  • Knowledge of construction techniques, terminology, and documentation (blueprints, electrical one-lines, construction drawings etc.)
  • Practical experience with building management systems and automation, controls & frameworks.
