This role is for a Critical Environment Field Service Engineer at Microsoft, responsible for maintaining the mechanical and electrical equipment in leased data centers to ensure optimal operational efficiency and availability. The role involves overseeing day-to-day operations, managing maintenance, reducing incidents, delivering on cost/energy efficiency, and supporting emergency response plans. It also includes coordinating audits, reporting on power/temperature/humidity, and building relationships with engineering groups and landlord partners. The role emphasizes compliance with policies, safety, security, and cost adherence.

What you'd actually do

  1. Ensures compliance with data center business units and service-level policies.
  2. Maximize Critical Environment (CE) availability in conjunction with our landlord partners at our leased Datacenters and to ensure optimal operational efficiency
  3. Oversee the day-to-day operations and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment in our leased Datacenters (MOP/SOP/EOP review, RCAs, FMEAs, change governance, and risk mitigation)
  4. Reduce high-impact and human-error Critical Environment (CE) incidents year over year
  5. Deliver on cost/energy efficiency initiatives

Skills

Required

  • Experience supporting IT equipment or related technology
  • Experience delivering server and network deployment projects in large-scale environments
  • High School Qualification or equivalent
