Internship role for a Critical Environment Technician at Microsoft's datacenters, focusing on supporting cloud infrastructure. Responsibilities include operational tasks, learning system operations, monitoring equipment, using CMMS, assisting with emergency response, and documenting activities. Requires a High School Diploma and basic knowledge of electrical/mechanical systems, with preferred qualifications in Facilities Management or engineering.

What you'd actually do

  1. Work onsite at our datacenters in Middenmeer.
  2. Carry out basic operational tasks such as site rounds, recording observations, and taking measurements under supervision.
  3. Learn to operate critical systems safely and professionally, with the opportunity to earn your Microsoft CET Level 1 certification.
  4. Monitor and inspect facility equipment (HVAC, electrical, mechanical, fire/life safety systems) and report abnormal conditions.
  5. Use our Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to track assets and manage work orders.

Skills

Required

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Basic knowledge of electrical and/or mechanical systems
  • Minimum of 18 years of age
  • Dutch National or eligible to work in the Netherlands
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements

Nice to have

  • Completed qualification in Facilities Management, Mechanical, Electrical engineering or related qualification
  • Electrical or mechanical engineer diploma level 2
  • Ability to support frequent standing, walking, lifting, and working at heights with or without equipment assistance
  • Able to communicate effectively with multiple stakeholders
  • Proficient in written and oral English communication to support regional and global teams
  • Desire to learn, grow, and develop new technical skills
  • Flexibility to work non-standard business hours that may include weekends and/or holidays
