Critical Minerals Consultant - Government & Public Services

Consultant role focused on the critical minerals ecosystem, including exploration, extraction, processing, recycling, and supply chain. Requires understanding of government programs, policy, and funding mechanisms to shape supply chain resilience and innovation. Involves strategic thinking, independent work, mentoring junior staff, and briefing senior leaders on critical minerals issues, risks, and opportunities.

What you'd actually do

  1. We are seeking an experienced Government Sector Consultant to join our team.
  2. The ideal candidate will bring deep experience in the critical minerals ecosystem (e.g., exploration, extraction, processing/refining, separation, recycling, supply chain, and end-use demand), and a strong understanding of how government programs, policy, and funding mechanisms shape efforts across supply chain resilience and innovation across the critical minerals value chain.
  3. This role requires a strategic thinker, with the ability to work independently, mentor junior staff, and provide clear, actionable briefings to senior leaders on key critical minerals issues, risks, and opportunities.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in geology, chemical engineering, industrial engineering, geology, earth sciences, or other relevant engineering/science field
  • 2+ years of experience working on matters related to the strategic materials ecosystem or critical minerals value chain
  • Located in Washington, DC and able to work part-time onsite
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship
  • Ability to travel up to 40% on average

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to succinctly brief senior leaders on critical minerals topics, including supply risk, industrial capability, and value-chain bottlenecks
  • Comfortable working on a team, communicating with clients, preparing technical deliverables, and working efficiently across multiple workstreams
  • Experience collaborating with junior staff to structure analyses, quality-check outputs, and deliver research and operational activities
  • Experience publishing in technical journals, conducting academic/applied research, or supporting R&D processes
