Northrop Grumman is seeking a Principal Cyber Systems Engineer to support the Ground-Based Midcourse Defense (GMD) Ground Weapon System (GWS) program. The role involves designing and developing classified networks, focusing on cybersecurity best practices across the OSI model, and supporting secure product delivery. Responsibilities include installation, configuration, troubleshooting of networking equipment, implementing security measures, documentation, and problem reporting within Agile processes. A DoD Active Secret security clearance and DoD 8140/8570 certification are required.

What you'd actually do

  1. Installation and configuration of networking equipment, troubleshooting, networking design, and implementing security measures for the networking infrastructure
  2. Documentation and verification of all installation and configuration steps
  3. Working with software developers and/or vendors as needed to help diagnose and identify the root cause of problems found during system integration
  4. Submit problem reports for errors found per Agile processes and coordinate daily integration activities with other Cross Functional Product Teams (CFPTs)
  5. Providing redlines to engineers and feedback to Leadership will be required as part of this position’s responsibilities.

Skills

Required

  • STEM field Bachelor's degree with 5 years of cyber systems experience OR Master's degree with 3 years of cyber systems experience
  • DoD Active Secret security clearance
  • DoD 8140/8570 certification (e.g. Security+ CE)
  • Experience on a large-scale missile defense system programs
  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • Critical thinking and ability to capture concepts
  • Ability to work independently and within a team

Nice to have

  • Perform development and installation of OS/automation for GWS Product Teams (GFC/GSS/IDT)
  • Support planning and integration of HCIL and other RGW Lab connectivity and testing to support program PBMs
  • Support GFC/IDT fielded systems, frequently contacted for issues seen during operations and testing
