Data Analyst – Transportation & Logistics

This role is for an Analytics Engineer focused on building and running analytics products end-to-end, including Power BI dashboards, data modeling, and automation using SQL and Python for Caterpillar's European ground transportation logistics. The role involves translating business problems into requirements, delivering actionable recommendations, and improving operational efficiency.

What you'd actually do

  1. Build, own, and continuously improve Power BI dashboards used by Transportation, Finance, and Supply Chain teams
  2. Translate business problems into clear requirements, measures, and data model design
  3. Work with (and sometimes extend) data models and datasets; partner closely with data engineers on pipelines and source logic
  4. Use SQL and Python to validate data, implement transformations, and create reliable, repeatable outputs
  5. Identify cost opportunities, service issues, and data quality gaps in transportation flows and turn them into actionable recommendations

Skills

Required

  • Master’s degree (or equivalent experience) in a quantitative or technical field
  • 3–5 years of experience in analytics, BI, or data roles
  • Strong hands‑on experience with Power BI (Desktop & Service)
  • Strong skills in SQL
  • Solid working knowledge of Python
  • Experience with data modelling, transformations, and structured datasets
  • Comfort working end‑to‑end: ambiguity → structure → delivery → continuous improvement
  • Clear communication in English
  • Ability to work directly with business stakeholders

Nice to have

  • Exposure to transportation, supply chain, finance, or purchasing
  • Experience with Snowflake, Oracle, Alteryx, Dataiku, or similar data platforms
  • Familiarity with process improvement concepts (Lean, Six Sigma, Operational Excellence)
  • Interest or experience in AI and Copilot‑style tools (prompting, automation, decision support)
