This role is for a Data Analytics Manager focused on polling and elections for ABC News. The manager will develop data-driven editorial content and analytical tools to support election coverage, combining data science, survey research, statistical modeling, data visualization, software engineering, and newsroom reporting. Responsibilities include creating polling averages, election race ratings, and other metrics, developing editorial content, writing news stories, designing and testing statistical models for election projections, analyzing voting trends, and vetting outside polls. Requires 10+ years of experience in data journalism, analytics, and public opinion research, with strong programming (Python, SQL), statistical analysis (R, STAN), and data visualization skills.

What you'd actually do

  1. Develop analytical tools such as polling averages, election race ratings, county vote benchmarks, and other election metrics and newsroom-ready data tools.
  2. Create editorial content based on polling results, analytical tools, and election data for broadcast, digital, and social platforms.
  3. Explore unique angles in storytelling by writing compelling news stories using ABC News’ polling data and reputable outside polls.
  4. Work with the Decision Desk in the design, implementation and testing of statistical models for election projections and analytical reporting.
  5. Conduct analyses of early voting trends using voter files and related election data.
