This role is for a Facilities Operations Technician II – Mechanical, focusing on the reliability, efficiency, and lifecycle performance of mechanical and HVAC systems in hyperscale data centers. It involves supporting design reviews, troubleshooting, upgrades, and partnering with site operations teams. The ideal candidate has a background in HVAC, mechanical systems, or industrial maintenance, with a willingness to learn critical cooling infrastructure. The role requires strong safety awareness, basic troubleshooting skills, and good teamwork. Preferred skills include exposure to various cooling systems and reading mechanical drawings. The position is mission-critical, requiring flexibility for shift schedules and physical capability for the work environment. Compensation is provided hourly and annually.

What you'd actually do

  1. Support the review and improvement of mechanical and HVAC system designs for high-availability environments, including chilled water, DX, airside systems, and redundancy strategies.
  2. Assist with troubleshooting activities, incident investigations, and root cause analysis for mechanical or HVAC equipment and system issues.
  3. Support upgrades, retrofits, and expansions, including participation in design reviews, commissioning activities, and operational acceptance processes.
  4. Partner with site operations teams to improve maintainability, safe execution of work, and documentation quality for mechanical and HVAC systems.
  5. Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders, including vendors and service providers, while building familiarity with applicable guidance and standards.

Nice to have

  • Exposure to chilled water systems, DX systems, CRAH/CRAC units, pumps, valves, cooling towers, heat exchangers, or mechanical plant operations.
  • Ability to read basic mechanical drawings, P&IDs, sequences of operation, and equipment manuals.
  • Familiarity with BMS/controls, alarm response, refrigerant handling, lockout/tagout, and safe work practices.
