Data Center Facility Design Engineer

AMD AMD · Semiconductors · Austin, TX · Engineering

This role is for a Data Center Facility Design Engineer responsible for the end-to-end design, construction consultation, and operational readiness of customer data center environments. The engineer will focus on power, cooling, networking, and facility systems, ensuring resilience, efficiency, and scalability. The role involves partnering with construction teams, vendors, and cross-functional engineering groups to deliver high-availability data center designs that support high-density compute and AI cluster deployments.

What you'd actually do

  1. Design, implement, and maintain data center power distribution systems, including UPS, PDUs, switchgear, generators, and grounding systems.
  2. Architect and optimize data center cooling systems, including CRAC/CRAH units, chillers, cooling towers, liquid cooling, and airflow management.
  3. Support the integration of data center network switches, structured cabling, patch panels, fiber/copper plant, and cable-management systems.
  4. Support data center construction projects, including design review, vendor selection, equipment installation, and commissioning.
  5. Write guidelines and specifications for rack installation, power provisioning, structured cabling, and equipment lifecycle management.
