Data Center Production Operations Engineer

Meta Meta · Big Tech · Los Lunas, NM

This role is for a Data Center Production Operations Engineer responsible for the physical infrastructure supporting Meta's global operations. The engineer will manage server hardware, deployments, incident response, and collaborate with various engineering teams to ensure reliability and efficiency. The role involves hands-on hardware work, troubleshooting, process improvement, and asset tracking in a large-scale data center environment.

What you'd actually do

  1. Perform hands-on installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and replacement of server hardware components including CPUs, memory, storage, and network interface cards across large-scale data center environments
  2. Execute rack-level deployments and decommissions in alignment with capacity planning schedules, ensuring accurate asset tracking and documentation
  3. Respond to hardware failure alerts and production incidents, diagnosing root causes and coordinating repairs to minimize mean time to recovery
  4. Partner with hardware engineering and network operations teams to validate new server configurations and support qualification testing of next-generation infrastructure
  5. Develop and refine standard operating procedures for recurring operational tasks, leveraging automation and AI-assisted workflows to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort
