This role is for a Data Center Technician at Microsoft. The technician will learn and perform standard procedures for equipment preparation, installation, diagnostics, troubleshooting, replacement, and decommissioning under guidance. They will also gain familiarity with security and data management procedures within the data center environment. The role involves contributing to issue tracking, participating in safety briefings, completing assigned tickets efficiently, and complying with security and data management policies. The technician will maintain a client focus, contribute to a positive team environment, and take accountability for service quality.

What you'd actually do

  1. Contributes to issue tracking through escalations, asking questions, and seeking guidance on timely resolution of issues from more experienced technicians.
  2. Participates in daily safety briefings, completes required training aligned to the role and workload including safety training, complies with safety procedures (e.g., equipment use, lifting, electrical hazards, ladder/rolling stair use).
  3. Completes assigned tickets efficiently and in alignment with Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) while meeting established Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with guidance from other technicians.
  4. Complies with security and data management procedures and policies with guidance from other technicians and completes the required security training.
  5. Maintains a strong client focus to understand the impact of their work when completing tickets and assigned tasks.

Skills

Required

  • basic knowledge of computer hardware and components
  • completed High/Secondary School, GED, an apprenticeship/vocational qualification, or equivalent experience

Nice to have

  • 1+ years' experience supporting IT equipment or related technology
  • CompTIA (A+, Server+, Network+)
  • Basic Structure Cabling (BSC)
