Microsoft’s Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) is the engine that powers our cloud services. As a CO+I DCT Apprentice, you will perform a key role in delivering the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's online services including Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform.
Our infrastructure is comprised of a large global portfolio of more than 100 datacenters and 1 million servers. Our foundation is built upon and managed by a team of subject matter experts working to support services for more than 1 billion customers and 20 million businesses in over 90 countries worldwide.

Responsibilities
This role is based on-site at our datacenter location in Marseille. Remote or hybrid work is not available for this position.
- Follow guidelines and work closely with experienced technicians to understand and comply with data center policies, procedures, and deadlines
- Learn to read and understand Process Change Notifications (PCNs) and assess their impact on daily operations
- Assist with preparing, installing, diagnosing, troubleshooting, replacing, and decommissioning network, storage, and server equipment with minimal business disruption
- Complete assigned support tickets efficiently while developing familiarity with KPIs
- Participate actively in daily safety briefings and comply with all safety and security protocols, including the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Help maintain a positive team environment through collaboration and effective handovers
- Escalate technical, safety, or security incidents promptly
- Complete all required training, including security and environmental health & safety (EHS) training
- Handle routine physical demands such as lifting, climbing, and working in data center environments
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a relevant technical qualification (e.g., electrical, mechanical, IT, or similar discipline)
- Minimum of 18 years of age
- Basic knowledge of computer hardware and components
- Strong interest in IT infrastructure and datacenter technologies
- Authorization to work in France (EU citizenship or valid residence permit with work authorization)
- Proficiency in English with a good working level (written and spoken)
Program Eligibility (Apprentice Requirement)
This position is intended for students currently enrolled in a technical training or apprenticeship program aligned with datacenter operations.
Background Check Requirements
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements is required for this role. These requirements include:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: must be passed upon hire and renewed every two years
Preferred Qualifications
- Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or similar
- Ability to perform frequent physical activity (standing, walking, lifting, working at height)
- Strong communication skills across teams and stakeholders
- Willingness to learn and develop new technical skills
- Flexibility to work non-standard hours if required
