This role is for a Data Center Operations Manager at Amazon Web Services (AWS) in London. The manager will be responsible for leading teams of technicians, maintaining and building data centers, optimizing operational processes, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring safety and security standards. The role requires strong people management skills, experience in IT environments, and knowledge of IT service management methodologies and financial budgeting.

What you'd actually do

  1. Managing and developing teams of technicians, providing both technical and leadership expertise and ensuring highest levels of performance
  2. Maintaining existing co-located and in-house Data Centers
  3. Helping build and bring online new Data Centers
  4. Constantly improving all our processes and procedures. We believe there is nothing we cannot improve
  5. Assisting & managing relationships with external vendors & contractors

Skills

Required

  • Experience communicating complex business concepts in verbal and written form
  • 5+ years of people management experience within an IT environment
  • In-depth knowledge and experience of change, problem and incident management
  • Understanding of Financial budgeting, Capex and Opex concepts

Nice to have

  • Experience in systems administration (Linux or Windows)
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma tools, Lean techniques, PMP or similar standards preferred
  • Experience working in data centers or critical infrastructure
  • Experience in one or more IT infrastructure domains (storage, compute, networking, security, software development, systems administration, database engineering or administration, machine learning, cloud infrastructure, big data, DevOps, or other IT infrastructure domain)
  • Experience in safety and security measures, ITIL foundation
