Because experimentation is so pervasive at Netflix, we continually enable new capabilities and onboard new initiatives to the platform with close cross-functional collaboration with our Software Engineering, Data Engineering, and Data Science partners.
At the nerve center of experimentation at Netflix is our internal, Netflix-wide, Experimentation Platform which accelerates innovation by enabling teams to rapidly learn from and act on their ideas. We are looking to add a data engineer to the team to improve the speed, reliability, and structure of our data pipelines that process billions of new events per day. These data pipelines are the foundation on which all experiment analysis at Netflix is built.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with data science and software engineering teammates to act as a strategic thought partner, solve emerging data needs, and ensure that our platform continues to deliver trustworthy and useful analysis results
- Work closely with data engineering and data science partners to set and improve the standards for experiment analysis across Netflix, e.g. via better data contracts and data health
- Design, build, operate, and maintain Spark data pipelines that process billions of allocation events per day and expose a silver layer in Iceberg
- Develop new tooling and pipeline automation to meet emerging experimentation-related business needs
Qualifications
- Strong proficiency with technologies like Spark or Flink, comfort working with large scale datasets
- Strong proficiency in data modeling, processing, automated testing, health, observability, and debugging
- Fluency in at least one SQL dialect and proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g. Java, Scala, Python)
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to navigate ambiguous problem statements and solve for cohesive platform data solutions

Generally, our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $380,000.00 - $610,000.00. This compensation range will vary based on location.
Netflix provides comprehensive benefits including Health Plans, Mental Health support, a 401(k) Retirement Plan with employer match, Stock Option Program, Disability Programs, Health Savings and Flexible Spending Accounts, Family-forming benefits, and Life and Serious Injury Benefits. We also offer paid leave of absence programs. Full-time hourly employees accrue 35 days annually for paid time off to be used for vacation, holidays, and sick paid time off.
