What you'd actually do

  1. Assist in building and maintaining data pipelines that ingest and transform data from various sources, including web traffic, subscription platforms, and ad servers
  2. Support data analysts with data requests and help answer questions about available datasets
  3. Contribute to the development of data models that support reporting on content performance, user engagement, subscriber lifecycle, and advertising revenue
  4. Help monitor pipeline performance and escalate data issues as they arise
  5. Document data definitions, business logic, and pipeline processes to support team knowledge sharing

Skills

Required

  • 1-2 years of experience in a data engineering, analytics engineering, or similar technical data role
  • Solid foundational SQL skills
  • Comfort working with structured and semi-structured data
  • Familiarity with Python for data processing
  • Familiarity with version control tools (e.g., Git)
  • Exposure to cloud data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake)
  • Awareness of ETL/ELT tools or orchestration frameworks such as dbt, Airflow, or Prefect
  • Awareness of data privacy considerations
  • Basic understanding of relational data modeling concepts
  • Basic understanding of how data supports editorial, product, and business decisions in a media environment
  • Good communication skills
  • Collaborative mindset

Nice to have

  • Experience with web analytics platforms (e.g., Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics)
  • Experience with BI tools (e.g., Looker)
