Visa is seeking a Data Platform Architect in Stockholm to lead the design, development, and implementation of their next-generation data platform. This role involves creating a secure, compliant, and resilient data ecosystem for various use cases including data warehousing, real-time/batch processing, analytical events, advanced modeling, and infrastructure management. The architect will collaborate with cross-functional teams, recommend architecture patterns, set technical direction, and mentor engineers, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and regulatory requirements in the Open Banking landscape.

What you'd actually do

  1. lead the design, development, and implementation of our next-generation data platform
  2. driving the execution of the technical vision to deliver a secure, compliant, and resilient data ecosystem that powers a breadth of use cases, including (but not limited to) data warehousing, real-time and batch data processing, analytical events systems, advanced data modelling, and infrastructure management
  3. collaborate closely with cross-functional teams across engineering, product, compliance, and AI to architect solutions that meet the demanding performance, scalability, security, and regulatory requirements of the Open Banking landscape
  4. recommend and apply best-in-class architecture patterns, frameworks, and guidelines
  5. set technical direction and mentor engineers to build high-quality, maintainable solutions that align with Visa’s strategic objectives

Skills

Required

  • Extensive experience in data architecture, including data warehousing, ETL/ELT pipelines, and data lakes within enterprise-grade environments
  • Proven track record in building secure, compliant, and resilient systems, with a deep understanding of security principles, privacy regulations (e.g. GDPR, PSD2)
  • Expertise in data processing frameworks and programming languages (e.g. Spark, Hadoop, SQL, Python/Scala/Java) and analytical event streaming systems (e.g. Kafka, Kinesis)
  • Strong background in advanced data modelling techniques, schema design, master data management, and metadata management
  • Hands-on experience managing cloud infrastructures (e.g. AWS, Azure, GCP), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, CloudFormation)
  • Familiarity with AI/ML data pipelines, enabling integration of machine learning models into production data workflows
  • Demonstrated ability to lead end-to-end technical projects, set architectural vision, drive consensus across stakeholders, and deliver on time
  • Exceptional communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership
  • Deep technical proficiency, strategic vision, providing mentorship and thought leadership, and engaging in high-level consultation across the organization

Nice to have

  • Relevant qualifications: Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field
  • Professional certifications (e.g. TOGAF, AWS Certified Solutions Architect) preferred
