This role focuses on developing and enhancing mathematical optimization models for supply chain planning, specifically for Amazon's North American network. It involves building intelligent agents using Agentic and Generative AI to automate planning workflows, make model outputs interpretable, and run network simulations. The role also includes collaborating with software engineering to productionalize models on AWS infrastructure and designing metrics for performance evaluation.

What you'd actually do

  1. Develop and maintain optimization models that generate volume plans for the North America fulfillment network, balancing constraints such as labor capacity, storage limits, transportation costs, and demand forecasts
  2. Build Agentic AI and GenAI applications that make model outputs explainable and actionable for planners, translating complex optimization decisions into clear, human-interpretable insights
  3. Design and implement Agentic AI-driven planning process automation to reduce manual intervention and accelerate planning cycles
  4. Leverage Agentic AI to run network plan simulations, identify further optimization opportunities, and surface recommendations for improved network performance
  5. Design and maintain metrics and frameworks to track, evaluate, and continuously improve optimal network performance

Skills

Required

  • Master's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM), or experience working in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM)
  • Experience in at least one of the related science disciplines (optimization - LP, MIP, statistics, machine learning, process control, combinatorial optimization)
  • Experience implementing algorithms using both toolkits and self-developed code
  • Experience with data scripting languages (e.g., SQL, Python, R, or equivalent) or statistical/mathematical software (e.g., R, SAS, Matlab, or equivalent)
  • Experience in manipulating/transforming data, model selection, model training, cross-validation and deployment at scale

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of machine learning concepts and their application to reasoning and problem-solving
  • Experience working with or evaluating AI systems
  • Experience with AWS Solutions, including EC2, S3, Redshift, EMR (or Hadoop)
