Caterpillar seeks a Data Specialist to employ data analytics for assessing technical performance and recommending system enhancements. The role involves analyzing customer requirements, identifying data inaccuracies, researching and documenting data specifications, and demonstrating proficiency in software development, web technologies, and SQL. Responsibilities include explaining Value Realization milestones, identifying process changes, communicating initiative goals, applying agile methodology, defining project criteria for agile development, working with cloud service models (IaaS, SaaS), implementing cloud services, documenting and resolving cloud security issues, researching data relationships, adhering to database design policies, testing database effectiveness, verifying data accuracy in warehouse systems, loading data into warehouses, deriving insights from raw data, acquiring data from various sources, addressing ETL challenges, assisting with information management software, developing backup/recovery practices, analyzing information resource management, designing value chains for Drivetrain components, and developing/deploying digital tools. Requires a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Data Science, Analytics or related field and 2.5 years of experience in data analytics, including ETL in Snowflake and Python, designing/implementing cloud solutions for supply chain/manufacturing/engineering/purchasing data, operations/supply chain/purchasing for inventory models, using PowerPoint/PowerBi/Excel for proposals, Snowflake database architecture/access management, and experience with drivetrain components/BOM structures/mechanical engineering drawings.
