Salesforce is seeking a Database Engineer for their Government Cloud. This role involves maintaining and improving the performance, scalability, and reliability of large-scale databases and applications. Responsibilities include implementing tests, debugging, conducting root cause analysis, participating in database automation, and providing technical support. The role requires experience with distributed applications, containers, Kubernetes, AWS, database engineering, Linux system engineering, and scripting. Experience with AI tools for development acceleration is also required.

What you'd actually do

  1. Come up with innovative ideas to improve performance, scalability and resilience in a large-scale platform
  2. Implement comprehensive functional and system-test for your area of responsibility and for overall database quality
  3. Debug, conduct root cause analysis, diagnose defects
  4. Actively participate in database automation and feature enhancement on premise and in Public cloud platform.
  5. Responsibility and accountability for the availability and reliability of all Production Databases.

Skills

Required

  • 2+ years of experience deploying distributed applications using containers (Docker) and orchestration platforms (Kubernetes, EKS, GKE)
  • 2+ years of hands-on AWS experience, including building and operating production-grade infrastructure
  • 2+ years of database engineering experience (relational, NoSQL, or both)
  • 2+ years of Linux system engineering experience
  • 2+ years of scripting or programming experience in Shell, Python, and/or Golang
  • Practical experience using AI tools — such as AI coding assistants or generative AI — to speed up development, automate workflows, or improve infrastructure quality
  • Experience with log management and analytics platforms such as Splunk or the ELK stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana)
  • Willing and ready to participate in a 24/7 on call rotation.

Nice to have

  • Experience with PostgreSQL
  • Experience in any of the monitoring tools like Grafana, Prometheus, etc.,
