As a Database Engineer ****– Level 3_ or _4 located in Morrisville, NC, you’ll be a linchpin in missions of paramount importance, defining the art of the possible from day one. This position is 100% onsite and cannot accommodate telecommute work.
The role involves applying standards, processes, and tools throughout the software development lifecycle, diagnosing integration issues, and delivering fixes or enhancements in a fast‑paced, Linux‑based, client‑server environment. The candidate must be a multitasking team player with strong communication skills, able to collaborate with internal teams, stakeholders, and contractors.
This position will work a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off.
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Apply appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the development life cycle.
- Diagnose problems encountered during application integration among products and address fixes/enhancements according to prescribed program processes.
- Familiarity with developing application software in a Linux environment, using relational databases, and knowledge of client – server applications will help set the candidate up for success.
- The candidate will be working in an extremely dynamic and challenging environment on a day-to-day basis.
- Experience with working in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to multitask and have good time management skills.
- Other duties as assigned.

This position is contingent upon the candidate obtaining final clearances and program access(es) within a reasonable period of time as determined by the company.
This position can be filled at either Level 3 or Level 4.
Basic Qualifications for Level 3:
- Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of professional experience – OR – Master’s degree with 3 years of professional experience – OR – PhD with 1 year of professional experience. Will consider an additional 4+ years of experience in lieu of degree
- Requires an active U.S. Government Top-Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) [TS/SCI] clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with an active Counterintelligence (CI) Polygraph [Poly] at time of application
- Experience with design and implementation of data warehousing technologies including relational databases, SQL, and data analytics
- Experience implementing InfluxDB, DynamoDB and PostgreSQL database systems running on Linux
- Experience in full lifecycle project development
- Experience with scripting languages such bash, PLSQL and/or Python for crafting efficient automation scripts and executing database operations
- Experience working on Agile Teams.
- Current Security+ Certification or equivalent
- Experience documenting design, processes, and procedures
- Experience with CI/CD Pipeline, Bitbucket, Git, Jira

Primary Level Salary Range: $108,800.00 - $163,200.00
Secondary Level Salary Range: $135,800.00 - $203,600.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
