Visa is seeking a Senior Consultant Database Architect to lead database architecture and standards for Pismo, a cloud-native financial services company. This role involves defining data modeling standards, schema governance, indexing, partitioning, and lifecycle management. The architect will guide teams on scalable, maintainable, and secure database patterns for high-throughput, low-latency financial services, ensuring end-to-end ownership from design to production, including reliability, security, and compliance by design. The role also involves influencing technical roadmaps, collaborating across teams, and mentoring engineers.

What you'd actually do

  1. Define and evolve database architecture strategies across Pismo, including data modeling standards, schema governance, indexing strategies, partitioning/sharding approaches, and lifecycle management.
  2. Act as a technical authority for database design decisions, guiding teams toward scalable, maintainable, and secure patterns.
  3. Lead architecture for database systems supporting high-throughput, low-latency, highly available financial services.
  4. Drive pragmatic trade-offs balancing performance, resilience, correctness, cost, and developer productivity.
  5. Own database initiatives across the full lifecycle: requirements discovery, design, proof-of-concept, implementation guidance, rollout, operationalization, and ongoing improvement.
