Defect Review Technician

This role is for a Defect Review Technician at Intel's Advanced Packaging Command Center (APCC). The technician will be responsible for classifying, validating, and disposing of defects identified by inspection systems in wafer packaging manufacturing. The goal is to maintain quality excellence, minimize defect noise, and support systematic defect reduction initiatives.

What you'd actually do

  1. Review and Analyze defect images captured by diverse metrology tools.
  2. Accurately classify defects based on documented defect specification.
  3. Distinguish between true defects requiring disposition action and false positives or nuisance defects.
  4. Verify defect classifications against established criteria and specifications
  5. Ensure strict compliance in review and disposition of hold lots based on documented Out-of-Control Action Plans (OCAP)

Skills

Required

  • Diploma in Engineering or Technical discipline (e.g., Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Mechatronics, Semiconductor-related fields)
  • Accurate classification of defects
  • Distinguish between true defects and false positives
  • Compliance with Out-of-Control Action Plans (OCAP)
  • First level defect analysis

Nice to have

  • 3-5 years of experience in wafer assembly processes, manufacturing systems, or the semiconductor environment.
  • Familiarity with wafer fabrication, assembly processes, and associated failure modes or mechanisms.
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills in English.
