Northrop Grumman is seeking a Deployable Aircraft Mechanic 2 to perform structural repairs, troubleshoot, and service aircraft and engine systems. This role involves maintenance, disassembly, rework, repair, and re-assembly of various aircraft systems according to technical specifications and FAA regulations. The position requires a Secret clearance and the ability to obtain SAP clearance, with significant travel (50%) and willingness to work flexible hours and on-call status.

What you'd actually do

  1. Troubleshoots, repairs and services aircraft and engine systems.
  2. Conducts diagnosis of malfunctions.
  3. Performs maintenance, disassembly, rework, repair, replacement, re-assembly or adjustment of various aircraft systems in accordance with technical specifications, engineering instructions, and FAA regulations.
  4. Fabricates, installs and tests installation, routing, clamping and wiring harnesses.
  5. Reads wiring diagrams and blueprints.

Skills

Required

  • High School diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • 2 years of relevant experience in the Aviation/Aerospace industry and/or mechanical experience and/or A&P certification/experience and/or additional Avionics education/certification
  • Active DoD Secret or higher clearance
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid U.S. passport
  • Willingness to accept customer furnished quarters for a period up to 180 days
  • Willingness to perform required work in Palmdale, CA and at Edwards AFB
  • Willingness to work a flexible work schedule that may include extended shifts, holidays, and weekends and support on call status
  • Must be able to meet medical requirements and pass a physical for worldwide travel
  • Ability to successfully pass a vision screen test
