Anduril Industries is a defense technology company seeking a Deputy Chief Engineer for Autonomous Airpower. This role involves owning vehicle subsystems from concept to production, establishing program plans, coordinating design trades, and managing technical risks. The position requires extensive engineering experience, leadership in new development projects, and the ability to obtain a security clearance. Experience with unmanned aircraft development and taking designs from concept to flight is preferred. The company utilizes an AI-powered operating system called Lattice OS to integrate data streams for command and control.

What you'd actually do

  1. Own vehicle subsystems / design scope from conceptual design phase through detailed design, build, test and productionization.
  2. Establish program plan/vision and communicate to team while ensuring they stay on track
  3. Coordinate and execute design level trades working with various functional engineering teams
  4. Incorporate expert knowledge of first principles aircraft design, design standards, system safety, test methodology and risk reduction across team.
  5. Establish requirements, design review entrance/exit criteria, etc.

Skills

Required

  • Experience developing, building, and testing large aircraft subsystems.
  • 7+ years of technical engineering experience in a professional environment
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Experience leading technical new start development projects.
  • Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical or Software Engineering Degree

Nice to have

  • Aviation passion demonstrated through FAA pilots license, Airframe and Powerplant license, Experimental Aircraft/Homebuilding etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to take designs from concept to flight.
  • Unmanned aircraft development experience
  • Strong hands on technical skills - both professional and hobby
