Design Engineer at Caterpillar responsible for developing controls systems for Power Conversion Systems, Microgrids, and Energy Storage Systems. This involves interpreting customer/business/regulation requirements, converting them into control algorithms, and delivering quality controls and software features. The role also includes collaborating on FMEA-based validation plans and performing validation activities in SIL, MIL, and HIL environments, as well as collaborating with software teams for releases.

What you'd actually do

  1. Support the development of controls systems for Power Conversion Systems, Microgrids and Energy Storage Systems.
  2. Develop control strategy requirements through interpreting voice of customer/business/regulation for power conversion systems, then converting those requirements into control algorithms and solutions.
  3. Deliver industry leading quality controls and software features.
  4. Collaborate with a global team to develop FMEA based validation plans while performing validation activities of controls systems for power conversion solutions in software in the loop (SIL), model in the loop (MIL) and hardware in the loop (HIL) environments.
  5. Collaborate with software teams to release software for new and existing products.

  • Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Systems Engineering or a related field plus 4 years of experience in delivering controls systems and software design or related occupation, OR Master's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Systems Engineering or a related field plus 2 years of experience in delivering controls systems and software design or related occupation.
