Design Engineer - Electrical role at Caterpillar in Bangalore, Karnataka, focusing on the end-to-end design and development of large (>2 MW) diesel/gas genset packages. What you'd actually do

  1. Lead design and development of Genset package from concept selection through detailed design, ensuring compliance with Caterpillar’s engineering standards and regional regulations.
  2. Provide strong technical leadership with deep knowledge of engineering fundamentals, electrical power & control systems, Integration of electrical sub-systems and electrical system interfaces. Understanding of Electrical AC/DC load distribution systems, electrical protection systems, and electrical component selection for generator control systems. Emphasis of this position is on creating concepts and directing the design and development of complex Electrical projects.
  3. In-depth knowledge of control panel design, electrical schematics, single line diagram (SLD), wiring harness routing, design best practices, manufacturing processes and package Bill of Material (BOM).
  4. Lead interface management across global cross functional engineering teams and suppliers to ensure holistic package fitment, system integration, and functional integrity throughout the product lifecycle.
  5. Apply engineering principles and analytical insights to optimize designs for manufacturability, performance, durability, cost effectiveness, and ease of assembly.
