Okta is seeking a Senior DevOps Data Engineer to build and maintain the core infrastructure for their Federal Data Platform. This role involves designing, building, securing, and automating infrastructure deployment processes within a high-security, high-compliance AWS cloud environment. The engineer will partner with data engineers to implement CI/CD pipelines, enhance software delivery processes, manage vulnerability lifecycles, and ensure adherence to federal compliance standards like FedRAMP and STIGs.

What you'd actually do

  1. Build and maintain the core infrastructure for our Federal Data Platform, using Python, Go, and other relevant technologies to ensure automation and reliability across the AWS cloud environment.
  2. Partner with data engineers to design and implement secure, automated CI/CD pipelines.
  3. Strengthen Okta’s software delivery processes by enhancing pipeline automation, delivery tools, and configuration management.
  4. Investigate and remediate operational findings within our regulated environments, collaborating with other DevOps teams and subject matter experts.
  5. Own the vulnerability management lifecycle for the platform, including scanning, prioritizing, and coordinating the remediation of identified vulnerabilities.

Skills

Required

  • 5+ years of experience automating and deploying large-scale production services in AWS
  • Experience with containerized services like Docker, ECS, and EKS
  • Strong proficiency in managing CI/CD infrastructures and tools like GitHub Actions, Jenkins, ArgoCD, or GitLab
  • Strong experience in AWS network engineering
  • Managing infrastructure as code using tools like Terraform or CloudFormation
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with Python, Go, or similar backend languages
  • Experience with system hardening
  • Applying security standards like STIGs
  • Hands-on experience with vulnerability management tools and processes (e.g., Nessus, Qualys, Trivy)

Nice to have

  • Relevant technical or security certifications are a plus
